Recorder 78,512 COVID cases in India In 24 hours

A record surge of 78,512 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours took India’s Covid tally past 36 lakh, the Union Health Ministry said this morning.

An additional 971 new deaths brought the overall death count to 64,469, a source stated.

“27,74,802 patients have recovered from the infection in the country, taking the recovery rate to 76.62 per cent. There are 7,81,975 active coronavirus cases in the country currently, which account for 21.59 per cent of the total caseload, the Union Health Ministry data showed.” (Source : ndtv.com)

It took India  214 days to cross 36 lakh cases. The country has registered over five lakh cases in the last one week.

India is the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world after the United States and Brazil. The country has been recording the highest single-day surge in cases since August 4.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state in the country, followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
