Ambode Commissions New Access Road to LASUTH

• Lagos to build special schools, health facilities 
Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday commissioned the new access roaAmbode Commissions New Access Road to LASUTH d connecting premises of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja from Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way. He also inspected the progress of work on the LASUTH Maternity Hospital popularly known as Ayinke House and ordered contractors to ensure its completion in six months.
The new road, which is 400 metres long, is designed with streetlight, drainage, median and beautification features. Ambode expressed joy that after about four decades, another access road had been created to LASUTH.
The governor also commissioned nine renovated Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs), which included Sura PHC, Lagos Island; Maidan PHC, Ikosi-Isheri; Orisunbare PHC, Alimosho; Agarawu PHC, Lagos Island; Oba Salami PHC, Yaba; Oshodi PHC; Onigbongbo PHC and Ojodu PHC.
Meanwhile, Ambode has called for early medical intervention to address the increasing rate of disabilities in children. He made the call at the stakeholders’ summit tagged: “Ability in Disability: A Stitch in Time Saves Nine”. Ambode who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Adebule, pledged to establish more special schools and health facilities for children with special needs and disabilities in 2018.
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, who chaired the summit, urged pregnant women to undergo ultra-sound scan to ascertain the condition of their unborn child, in order to tackle deformities at the early stage. The minister was represented by the Chief Medical Director, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Prof Chris Bode.
