As a way of enabling members of the Association of Community Pharmacists in Nigeria to meet professional standards in Nigeria, Pharm. Ahmed Yakkassi, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, some time ago instituted an award tagged ‘Ahmed Yakasai Community Pharmacist Support Award.’
The award which came into being in the year 2013 was planned to span a period of 10 years. As at then, the initiator was not in the position of power but felt there was a need to contribute his quota to the development of the association and also encourage members of the association.
Applications were drawn from various parts of the country as part of the selection process, and a committee was put in charge of selecting the best deserved person for the award.
Pharm. Ikechukwu who has had terrible experiences during his pharmacy practice including the demolition of his premises in Abuja, to being a 3-time armed robbery attack victim at his facility in Imo State, caught the attention of the committee.
In appreciation, he said he would be forever grateful as the cash reward would go a long way to bringing back his premises to what it used to be.
