The Chairman, Nigeria Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAOPMED), Yobe State branch, Alhaji Garba Sabo has expressed concern over increasing abuse of illicit drug and its circulation among youths in the state.
Sabo said in an interview with newsmen, “It is very unfortunate that not only the youths, even married women come to us asking for Ventolin Syrup, trammadol tablets and other hard substances. We have set up a taskforce committee among us to check its proliferation.”
Sabo revealed that most sellers of the illicit drugs operate independently without any certified membership.
When contacted, the Coordinator of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Yobe State, Lawan Musa Dadingelma said they use to organize periodical sensitization workshop for the drug dealers and vendors.
“We also go to markets and raid flash points where illicit drugs are sold. We do mop the places and are determined to get rid of it,” he said.
