To mark the African Traditional Medicine Day, the Model Herbal Clinic of the Department of Pharmacognosy, University of Lagos, Akoka, presents its symposium titled ‘Herbs for health, Application and Development’ as part of efforts to promote the traditional medicine.
The symposium is scheduled to hold on August 25, 2017, at Chapel of the Healing Cross Hexagonal, opposite Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos. The event will also feature exhibition of Nigerian herbal product with the renowned Prof. Maurice Iwu as its guest lecture r and President, Alternative Medicine Association, Archbishop M. A. Atilade as the chairman.
About 80per cent of Africa’s population relies on traditional medicine for their basic health needs. In some cases traditional medicine is the only healthcare service available, accessible and affordable to many people on the continent. In this case, the significant contribution of traditional medicine as a major provider of healthcare services in Africa cannot be underestimated.
